Quad Advisor - Edens and Wannamaker

Schedule an Advising Meeting

Hello! I am a Quad Advisor and a steadfast advocate for all students. My role is to advise first and second year undergraduates on all aspects of Duke academic life and the greater university experience. I care deeply about how students experience Duke: choosing courses and majors, making friends, studying smart, and still having a life.

Prior to becoming an advisor, I served as a Neurodiversity Specialist and Learning Consultant at the Academic Resource Center, and as a Communications Consultant and Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Pratt School of Engineering. I still enjoy troubleshooting challenges with task initiation, presentation anxiety, and the hidden social rules of academic life. All neurotypes are welcome in my office!

Prior to joining Duke, I earned my Ph.D. at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and was a teaching fellow in Writing Programs and research scientist at a national center. I taught graduate courses in teacher education at the University of Southern California, launched after school reading programs for a family foundation, conducted program evaluations and professional development K-20, and worked as a literacy specialist. My time living abroad includes teaching in Hungary and Russia, touring Europe with a choral group, and studying in Italy and the UK (big fan of study abroad!) I moved to North Carolina in 2022 to be closer to family.

Outside advising, I spend a lot of time with my mixi-poo Oliver, a certified therapy dog volunteer. Keep an eye out for us on therapy dog days during finals! Oliver loves talking about cheese, chasing bones, and singing “Happy Birthday.”

Through the ups and downs of academic life, no one has it all together all the time. There is power in possibility, and I look forward to hearing about your possibilities, your pets and travel plans, and the one campus myth you hope is actually true.
