Welcome to Mathematics!

Mathematics teaches you to think deeply about simple things. Developing comfort and skill with precise, analytical thinking is an incredible asset no matter where life takes you, or what career path you ultimately pursue.

As the purest form of quantitative analytical reasoning, Math has applications in nearly every other science. Our curriculum offers students the flexibility to follow their interests – whether as a major, minor, second major, or simply a student fulfilling a math requirement – and we’re constantly developing and adapting courses in popular and timely topics like data science and machine learning.

Advising

If you have declared as a first major, you will soon be assigned an advisor by the Director of Undergraduate Studies (DUS). If you have a preference for who is assigned as your advisor, please contact the DUS. If you have declared as either a second major or a minor you won't be assigned an advisor in the Mathematics Department. However, we encourage you to reach out to either Adam Levine or our Associate DUS, Sarah Schott with any questions you may have. Learn more about advising here.
