Helpful Resources on Campus
Remember to ask your college advisor where to start if you're feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the resources and information you're getting.
- Meet with a director of academic engagement or specialized advisor.
- Adjusting to college requires new strategies as there are important differences from high school. The Academic Resource Center has many academic support services to help students make this transition. Learn more about the services and strategies they offer.
- Check out the resources section on the Academic Guides site for tips about getting know faculty, writing emails to staff and faculty, why you should go to office hours, and more.
- If you are a prehealth student, review the Office of Health Professions Advising section of our website.
- Schedule an appointment to meet your academic dean. It will be good to put a face with a name and establish a relationship in case you have questions later on.
- Make use of your advising partners across campus who are available to help you navigate all areas of student life, inside and outside the classroom.

- After you move to west campus, you can meet with an Academic Guide, who has an office in your residential quad. When you're unsure about what's next for you in your Duke experience, your Academic Guide will help you figure out what you're looking for and connect you with the students, faculty and staff who are best suited to answer your questions.
