How I’ve made the most of my Duke experience
I've made the most of my Duke experience by taking the initiative to reach out. My favorite aspect of Duke is how receptive professors and organizations are to working with you. One of my greatest opportunities came from reaching out the summer before my freshman year to a professor researching youth voter turnout. From there, I was able to join her research team before stepping foot on campus. Approaching the opportunities at Duke with the mindset of asking to join programs, professors, and clubs has let to many of the best experiences and interactions while at college.
What I value
Determination, Passion, and Inquisitiveness. I really value the ability for people to take these qualities and translate them into something they love to do. At Duke, with so many opportunities and perspectives available to you, being passionate, determined, and open-minded to pursue other views and experiences is extremely important to me.
Where I see myself after Duke
After Duke, I hope to continue pursuing juvenile justice reform and attend law school.
How I like to spend my free time
I love spending my free time attending performances, including Hoof n' Horn musicals, Duke Classical Performances, and shows at DPAC. I also love coaching debate and attending local events in Durham, including the Strawberry Festival and Farmer's Markets.
