Owing to recent changes in the financial aid landscape, select law schools have begun to offer additional programs to cover the aid gap.
Santa Clara University School of Law has introduced a pilot scholarship program called Promising Legal Education Delivering Growth and Excellence, known as PLEDGE. This program will offer a $16,000 annual scholarship to every incoming first-year student who matriculates as a full-time student in Fall 2026. No separate application is required. The PLEDGE Scholarship will be automatically awarded and incoming students will also be automatically considered for additional merit-based aid.
Those who are admitted to William & Mary Law School by April 1st, 2026 will receive a competitive scholarship which will ensure the gap between scholarships and tuition costs falls below the new $50,000 federal loan cap. This will eliminate the need to seek out a private loan and will allow students to cover their total tuition only through scholarships and federal loans without exceeding the annual borrowing limit.
